Prior to the publication of the Bloomberg article, VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb had also hinted that the PlayStation 5 event would be held on June 3, stating in a pair of tweets that it would be held “after June 2,” but “a little before June 4.”
The PlayStation 5 is due out this holiday.
Update 11:20am: VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb has published his own story corroborating June 3rd.
“While the June 3 reveal should give the PS5 the best look yet, don’t expect Sony to provide every detail about the next-gen system,” Grubb said in his report. “The company may hold the price and release time for another date. Pricing for the PS5 is still very much subject to fluctuation. Sony wanted to launch at a competitive price, but also didn’t want to lose out on hardware. “
Grubb continued, “So, what will Sony be showing off next week? hopefully it’s a presentation on the game’s gameplay from the PlayStation 5. Sony seems to be aware of the backlash Microsoft was facing at the time of its first Xbox 20/20 event. Fans weren’t happy with the lack of gameplay at the presentation. In response, Sony wants to rely on PS5 games actually running on real hardware. ”
